Monitor Your Heart and Manage Your Health

If you’re concerned about your heart’s health, it’s likely that you have looked at cholesterol, blood pressure, and triglycerides but may have overlooked heart rate variability which is one of the most important measures of heart health.Put simply; it’s the variation in time between each heartbeat. HRV is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and functions at a subconscious level and, because it’s controlled by the ANS, it can be useful in making diagnostic and prognostic determinations with can then be used to decide on treatment methods.

HRV is affected by pathological, physiological, non-modifiable factors, modifiable lifestyle factors and other factors:

✓ Pathological factors are those impacted by disease and infection
✓ Physiological factors include breathing, sleep patterns and posture
✓ Non-modifiable factors look at age, gender and genetics
✓ Lifestyle factors include physical activity and smoking
✓ Other factors that have an impact include medications and pollution

What is Heart Rate Variability?

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) is used by some of the most prominent physicians. We are not so much interested in the heart, but rather the neurological control of the heart. We use the heart electricity because it is simple and convenient to measure. Similar neurological impulses are found in the intestinal track, brain and other organs but they are not as easy to measure.

HRV evaluates the balance between your sympathetic nervous system (fight and flight) and your parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest). An imbalance in your HRV is the top risk factor for sudden cardiac death and an important indicator for your cardiovascular health and general well-being. HRV testing is done as a predictive indicator of your fitness, stress levels, level of health risk, chronic disease condition, cardiac condition and more. With HRV training, you can benefit from enhanced health and wellness, an improved attention span and the ability to concentrate and well as an improvement in your short-term memory.

The Benefits of HRV for Your Health

Medical Research

HRV is based on medical research backed by a number of peer-reviewed, published studies that point to the clear benefits of HRV treatments. Developed by Scientists and Doctors The methodology and technical software and hardware have been developed over many years by doctors and scientists working together to develop a unique tool for preventative healthcare.

Quick and Reliable

The testing process is quick, and you can get immediate results and insights into your health. The process is also completely non-invasive.

Early Detection

HRV detects arteriosclerosis (a hardening of the arteries), loss of arterial elasticity, your blood circulation, disturbances in small blood vessels, and the relative (or biological age) of blood vessels. The test will also assess cardiovascular health, the progression of disease, as well as the effects of medication, lifestyle and diet changes and therapies.

Your HRV Treatment

The autonomic (automatic) nervous system has two parts. The easiest way to explain this is to think of an automatic car. The Sympathetic nervous system is like the accelerator. The Parasympathetic nervous system is like the brake. In order for the car to function properly both are required. There are many examples within the human body. There are nerves that open your eyes and equal and opposite nerves that close your eyes. When you start to walk there are one set of nerve impulses, the opposite nerve impulses allow you to stop walking. The digestive system is another example one set of nerve impulses start digestion and equal and opposite nerve impulses stop digestion.

HRV measures both of these, and for optimal health (just like the car) the two need to be in balance. In some cultures, this balance is known as the Yin and the Yang. In my clinical experience, measuring the parasympathetic healing energy helps me come up with the best treatment plan.
